Johnny in the Basement debut EP, "Chasing The Feeling", recorded in Independence MS at Jim Dickinson's Zebra Ranch Studio. All tracks were recorded in one day with Will Bart on guitar and bass, Lightnin Malcolm on drums, and Garry Burnside son of hill country legend RL Burnside on guitar. All six tracks were written by Will Bart. The final two tracks feature just Will on acoustic guitar performing two acoustic originals. Mandolin/Wurlitzer overdubs done by Will Bart.

"From the moment I stepped out of the car and looked up at the Zebra Ranch studio i felt the magic instantly. As i looked around at all the history and all the vintage memorabilia you cna feel Jim Dickinson's energy throughout the entire place and all of his things. As soon as we began tracking it was like hopping on a train and knocked out the entire EP you have in front of you. When you're in there doing your thing there's no other place you'd rather be at that very moment. Words do not and cannot do this place justice. There was a feeling that took over me while recording and ever since I've been chasing that feeling. I'm forever grateful for this experience and a huge thank you is in order to Luther, Cody and Mary Lindsay Dickinson for allowing me to record in Jim's studio and to Kevin Houston for mixing and engineering."
